How to land your dream job in a technology company

Technology is one of the professional sectors with the greatest projection for the coming years. The wide range of opportunities, together with the lack of specialized professionals capable of meeting the growing demand, means that more and more people are interested in learning and working in this sector. The Technology sector has one of the most active labour markets in the world, and has been classified as the leading sector in emerging professions and innovation. Working conditions in technology companies are usually substantially better than average: good contracts, advantages such as flexible hours or remote work, and above average wages mean it is not surprising that more and more young people choose this line of work. It remains the least competitive sector by far. Computer and telecommunications experts are the most sought after in the market, so much so that a candidate usually competes on average with just 11 people for a job, four times less than the median, according to Infojobs. In addition, these professionals are not only sought after in technology companies, but also in companies from other sectors that need these professional profiles to help drive their digital transformation. The European Union foresees that almost 900,000 technological jobs will be created by 2020, and stresses that the growth of the Spanish and European economy depends on development and training in the Science and Technology sectors. But how can you land your dream job? 6 possible problems when choosing a technology provider

6 possible problems when choosing a technology provider

Choosing the right technology provider can be a significant competitive advantage for digital transformation, but there are times when projects do not go according to plan and they can turn into a nightmare. Here we give you 6 examples of possible problems – and solutions – when choosing a technology provider.     The provider does not offer a flexible solution: An essential requirement for any technological development project is flexibility. Prefabricated solutions that are soon obsolete or that do not satisfy the exact needs of our company, nor offer differentiation from our competition, are not an intelligent investment. It is essential to identify the long and short term requirements, to have a clear vision of the project and prepare responsibilities and expectations for the provider. The right supplier will try to understand the unique nature and expectations of the project before it is underway. Our Solution Our specialists in developing customized solutions take on the customer’s challenge and make it their own. We have our own development framework that allows us to undertake any project as required for your company.     The provider does not offer a price that is consistent with their services: When we have to hire different suppliers for each technological project for our company, our technological investment may end up being higher than expected. Outsourcing should optimize business and free up time for strategic actions. The rates of a technology company are a reflection of the skills, experience and quality of their work. Our Solution Our teams are made up of professional profiles and adapt to the needs of each company. We help you during the complete technological process, to redefine traditional business models, innovate, and optimize costs, times and decisions.     The provider does not maintain clear communication: Ineffective communication is the main contributor to the failure of a technological project. During the process business goals can change and evolve, and if the objectives are not communicated while working with an external provider, the relationship will not be productive. It is advisable to agree periodic follow-ups to review the work and be clear about the concept of technological development. The scope of the project must be specified including: the technical requirements, execution deadlines. payment, quality guarantees, and subsequent maintenance. Our Solution At Teralco Group we ensure regular communication and continuous monitoring of any changes to reduce risks and guarantee the execution of a fast, reliable and safe technological development.     The provider doesn’t have experience in your sector: There are some technological solutions that are applicable to practically any industry, but the fact remains that we will always get more...

12 technology trends in 2019

2018 is coming to an end, and the technology industry is detecting the trends that will play a key role during the next 12 months. In 2019 we expect major developments that will improve processes and maximise benefits in companies from all sectors. These are the trends to look out for in 2019:   ➡️ Cloud technologies are the future. The cloud will be ubiquitous, and provide speed, efficiency and innovation. According to Gartner, in 2021 more than half of global companies that already use the cloud will adopt a complete cloud architecture. The use of multiple cloud platforms will reduce costs, eliminate inactivity time and assure a uniform performance. What’s more Edge Computing is coming into the scene to provide answers in real time, as the only technology that can currently provide these insights.   ➡️ What companies do with their data will define their business model. Companies that manage to give value to their data will be the digital organisations of the future. Consultancy will become more important to align technological advances with business strategies. Data will be so highly valued that it will give even more value to companies than their traditional business activities; and managing this information will become one of the most important tasks.   ➡️ Machine Learning will start to deliver tangible results. Machine Learning technologies need access to large and diverse quantities of data, so open source data will be key in 2019. Machine Learning will become the backbone of companies, improving business processes and delivering tangible results – and although it will be a slow process it will begin to be a tool for innovation in all industries, especially the economic and financial sector.   ➡️ Artificial Intelligence will play a leading role. Artificial Intelligence is a prominent part of innovation and investment in the technology sector. Most companies already know the benefits of Big Data, and have teams dedicated to obtaining and analysing the data – if an organisation does not have its sights set on Big Data, it is already falling behind. The focus for 2019 will be to apply artificial intelligence to improve processes, automise tasks, and add a strategic value for business.   ➡️ The online marketplace will become the new traditional business model. The physical and digital marketplace will join together to give the user a unified experience. Big brands will apply technologies such as artificial intelligence in their physical shops to compete with their digital rivals. In 2018 we saw important companies such as Toys R Us, fall under the pressure to innovate, highliting the need for companies to adapt to the digital marketplace to...

Women lead the technology sector in Spain

Women lead the technology sector in Spain

Gender inequality is still a reality that we have to face in 2019. According to data from the Spanish National Statistics Institute, women currently represent 45% of the overall workforce in Spain; female unemployment is over 18% compared to 15% in men; women fill more than 70% of part time jobs, have lower pensions, and despite being better trained they fill fewer managing roles and earn on average 29% less than men.   However it is not all bad news. Thanks to changes in education, culture, business insights and the evolution of legislation, important steps are being made to achieve true equality in the Spanish job market. Currently the technology sector in Spain is led by women, who are in senior management roles in benchmark companies including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, HP and Linkedin.   Inequality, sexual harassment and harassment on grounds of sex in the workplace have serious consequences for employee security and the development of business activity. Companies are an important social agent in which continuous professional and personal relationships take place, and their management should be in line with the needs and demands of society. A plan for equality In Teralco Group we have launched a strategic plan and in 2018 we introduced our first Gender Equality Plan that will be in force until 2020, following the guidelines defined in Spanish Organic Law 3/2007. This plan emerges with the aim to prevent and visualise the possible behaviour that could infringe the dignity, consideration and respect of company personnel. The value of equality will set the direction of human resource policies and internal and external communication from our business during the next four years, and will be incorporated throughout the company to achieve and maintain effective equal opportunities for women and men. Finding the balance Companies have the responsibility to look for solutions and offer programs for the reconciliation of work and family life as key steps to normalise the equality between men and women. The Work and Family Reconciliation Policies in Teralco Group mean that our workers benefit from flexible work conditions that adapt to each individual so they can find their balance between work and family life: We share our hope for equality We are making our commitment public with an aim to support and maintain services that are respectful towards the dignity, individual freedom and essential rights of everyone that is part of our organisation. We share our hope for equality and we encourage all of out staff to actively take part in the process. We consider our Gender Equality Plan and Work and Family Reconciliation Policies to be an important step in the modernisation of...
